He tried to recreate the contract in order to resolve the issue. He screwed up and put the wrong date on it and was unable to close out the contract. The manager never came to the desk when called. I left for the airport with an open contract for a car I had already returned because I had to catch a flight.
Nothing special for a major rental chain. Taxes and fees nearly doubled rental invoice! The car rented for $97 for four days, total bill with all taxes & fees was $178! Would have been double that if I had taken their insurance.
When I returned the vehicle, staff in the garage was unable to close my contract. I went to the one person on duty at the desk. He pulled up my contract and said it had been voided and then told me, "I guess you can go." I asked what that meant. He laughed. He was unable to tell me what that meant. I didn't know if the company would blame me for taking a vehicle or if they had no idea I had used one.
I have tried calling there for 2 weeks and have left 6 voice mail messages about my upcoming travel and no one has called back. I called the main office, they said they would forward a message and still no call. I need to confirm our requested car seats will be available, so its pretty important.
My experience is awesome! The attendants that I encountered were both pleasant. The process was flawless.
Called the company the next day and spoke to a woman who couldn't find anything out. Unsure when I will get the hold money back or if I will. Supposedly in 3-5 days.
I will not be renting from Hertz again.
Rented a car for a weekend trip to Gettysburg. Vehicle had neither registration nor proof insurance. Didn't even think to look until later that evening. Vehicle also had a beer can in the back seat.
Gold member ? Its free and so helpful, you pick up your own car and takes seconds to be out of the rental building, easy access, quick service, large selection. Great !
