I have been using Alamo out of BWi quite a bit lately as I have had several trips to Baltimore. Every time has been seamless and without any problems. Unfortunately this past trip was a little painful. My wife inadvertently put the rental car keys in her purse and we did not discover this until the next day. I returned to Baltimore for another trip a few days later but they would not accept the keys. I was charged $225 for the keys without any notice. This was more than my rental rate. Anyway there was no budging on their part. The employee made perfunctory trip to the back to “check with the manager” but looking back, this was just for show. Oh well. There are plenty of car companies next door to Alamo and I will
Erin Green charged me an extra day for a vehicle that was already returned on the correct day and returned early. They apparently didn’t check it in when I returned it. Apparently they don’t check cars in correctly at Alamo. So ended up with 3 extra charges on my credit card of over $300 for a vehicle they already had back and I had already flown back to the west coast. Erin apologized and said that the money would be returned in three days, so it takes less than thirty seconds for you to charge me money instead a few minutes to do your job and find the vehicle I already returned but three days to get back my money that you stole from me right before Christmas? Disgusting display of inadequate lazy work and screwing over your potential return customer as I fly 30-40 times a year and always get a rental car. I cannot recommend any less than 1 star if I could I would Merry Christmas!
They did not provide me with any official documents regarding the additional fees for MD, DC or VA residents. Why are we being penalize???????? Profiling?????
Kiosks are hard to use as I tried both the magnetic strip and the barcode scan - so it kicked me out and forced me to go stand in line (ugh, when 15 people in front of you) but the wait was fairly fast and I will say all the staff at Baltimore was incredibly friendly and kind. They did a good job of asking me where I was going to figure out if I needed a toll transponder or not (I've been hosed by that before in the LA area). Got out to get my car and my car was given away by another guy (twice!) but we joked about it and they ended up upgrading me to a bigger car which was good. Car worked great and return was a little nutty with the lanes being packed and waits for the person to close out the rental (but less than 10 minutes).
join the rest of my group in using another company.
Have rented here several times, always good service. I avoid the kiosks, too quirky. The one long line (last year) moved quickly. Cars have always been good. Last time, all the cars in my class (several makes) were red - must be a good story there.
I reserved a car for one day with a major credit card. At the counter, I was told it would be an additional $250.00 hold. I inquired, I was told if you live on MD, VA or DC it's an additional $250.00. Also, I was told all airport car rental companies charge this fee. Two weeks prior to my reservation with Almo, I rented a car from Budget no additional fee (hold) was placed on my card. This information is not stated on your website or rental agreement.
