I had a rental reservation with a different company, but when I saw that the estimate on the AVIS website was better, I printed out the estimate to see if the other company would price match. They wouldn't. So, I walked over to the AVIS counter and they not only gave me the better price I found online, they matched it with another company that had a lower price than that. The car was beautiful and worked perfectly for my 1500 mile trip, and when the check oil light came on, the roadside assistance was quick, efficient, and had me back on the road in no time. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Cars are usually ready to go, although usually not very clean inside. There are very few agents to assist with renting cars. You'll need to prepay or give them your CC info permanently on their booking site for the easiest process.
Such ease in my pickup and return. If you prepare ahead of time and provide all your information, you can skip the desk! I literally got a text when I landed (because I provided my flight number) welcoming and telling me where to pick up my car. I walked right to the car, keys were in and a quick checkout at the gate while in the car! Kudos for efficiency.
BUT, they made it up to me on my return when I was walking away with my luggage after dropping off the car when the honest check in lady said I left my work iPad on the front seat! Whew! That works have been a major pain. Gave her a $10 tip! And the price I paid for the rental was lower than most others so that's good too.
Dirty rental but great check in! I don't know why it is but EVERY time I rent from Avis BWI, the outside of the car/truck is filthy. It was SO bad this time, I took it to a car wash as I could not see through rear or the mirrors.
Terrible Customer Service!!! It took us an hour to get our car because there was only one person behind the counter, she didn't know what she was doing, and there were only 2 other customers waiting in line. Also, the car was terrible. I have rented cars exclusively from Hertz and never had a problem; however, I drove about 25 miles in the Avis car and got a flat tire. My first in a rental car. Then after I changed the flat to the spare, they charged me $110 three months later for a new tire. This is by far the worst car rental company I have had the displeasure of dealing with. I have learned my lesson: ALWAYS GO WITH HERTZ!!!
