Our two servers were excellent. First off, the prices here are higher than most downtown city steakhouses. So the value is very low here. They didn’t have the first 3 wines we ordered. And they don’t have most of the wines in the years listed on their menu. Wine prices are higher than similar restaurants. My salad was good. My extra cut prime rib was a massive size but was a choice grade at best - no prime in this prime rib. There was so much gristle, maybe a third of the beef was inedible. I ate most of it but chose not to finish it because I was physically tired from chewing and sawing the meat. Others had good steaks (filet, ribeye, etc.) just not me. I was too tired to eat dessert. Too far away to park, didn’t see a valet, and lots of other reasons why this place misses on many levels. I won’t be back.
Made reservations for our date at 6:30pm on a Friday. Got there early and was seated right away. Since it was my first time there everything was explained so I understood the menu including portions for sides. They are sharing sizes; more than one person needs. Our waiter was friendly and respectful. A wine was recommended to go with the lamb chops I ordered and it paired well.
Went for a company dinner and we sat in the long, thin side room. It’s loud in that room and they couldn’t turn off the music so it was a little difficult to hear.
The staff was genuinely attentive, and the crab cake was good. But the prime rib was shockingly tough once you ate the tasty outer ring. And here I hoped it was just a dull steak knife. Hard to believe their forte is as a steakhouse. A dining partner commented that Oscar style appears to be a way hide an over cooked piece of meat under a lot of sauce. A lovely setting with overpriced food.
Luv the service. I was attended to immediately. My birthday cake milkshake came out fast. Very happy
